Wellington Oasis Laundry Room

About

Busy Family of Four with 2 super active kids

The laundry room… sadly, we spend so much time in this space (boo to laundry), so it really should be a space we enjoy as much as possible. And this busy family asked to accomplish this goal.

For this home, the laundry room is the first room you enter from the garage. So, it needed to be a multi-purpose space where the kids could easily dump their sporting clothes and equipment, a place to put down groceries if needed, and a place to fold clothes, all while appearing put together and sophisticated.

We replaced the cabinetry and took the new cabinets up to the ceiling, which gave more storage and made the space appear more prominent. Then the washer & dryer were swapped out with front-loading ones which were preferred by the Owners, and a vanity with a sink that had a corner faucet strategically placed to allow easy access for a small space and to allow the largest sink possible for this area. Lastly, an oak shelf was added that sat on L brackets right above the appliances. This was cleverly installed as a way to place decorative items to not only hide the washer / dryer hookups but also provide a zen-like feeling.

Next, this shelf can be easily removed in case appliances need repair or to provide easy access to the water lines. A fresh coat of paint, a designer light fixture and a washable rug added the finishing touches. (A washable rug was essential for this high-traffic area!)
