In sunny Florida, where outdoor living is a way of life, having a serene retreat just steps from your door is almost essential. That’s why this family decided to turn their awkward, muddy side yard – plagued by drainage issues – into a stunning outdoor oasis. And we were thrilled to bring their vision to life! 

The first challenge? Tackling that pesky water flow. We rerouted the gutter downspout which eliminated the swamping. The next phase included leveling the ground to prepare the area for pavers and turf. But why stop at the side yard when you can have a full backyard transformation?! 

The family decided to turf the entire area, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking. Not only does the lush green turf elevate the backyard’s aesthetic, but it’s also easy to maintain – a huge win for this busy family.

Then, the family wanted a playful yet sophisticated pattern for the pavers, so we laid out a few different designs with painter’s tape, allowing them to visualize the design and choose their favorite layout. The final paver design features a mix of paver sizes, with turf in between, creating a dynamic eye-catching look. 

To complete this outdoor haven, we hung string lights to give the area that perfect ambiance. We then added a large dining table and created a cozy hangout area with a couch, club chairs and the piece de resistance – an outdoor fire table. And what’s an outdoor space without some entertainment? Lastly, we hung a TV on the exterior wall of the home, turning this space into the ultimate spot for movie nights, soirees, and alfresco dining. 

Now, this family has an outdoor area that’s not just beautiful but also functional – a true extension of their home where they can relax, entertain, and make the most of Florida living.
